Some Assembly Required
Fake Jensen & Fake Brigitte
NVIDIA’s answer to European digital sovereignty ships in a container: DSX POD turns six months of data-center construction into fourteen days. Ep. 089 sits in on the procurement call, where Europe asks the only question the brochure doesn’t answer.
Berlin. Wednesday. The keynote venue opened in 1980 as a tent. Today it hosts Europe’s plan for technological independence. The independence ships in a container.
JENSEN: Brigitte. You watched the keynote. Thoughts?
BRIGITTE: You said Europe should produce the AI, not merely consume it. Wonderful. We would like to purchase one sovereignty, please.
JENSEN: Perfect timing. DSX POD. A complete Vera Rubin AI factory, integrated and validated before delivery, shipped in a container.
BRIGITTE: A container.
JENSEN: Dell built a box. HPE built a box. Lenovo built a box. Europe has never had so many boxes.
BRIGITTE: The timeline?
JENSEN: Fourteen days.
BRIGITTE: Fourteen days. For an AI factory.
JENSEN: Six months of onsite construction, now fourteen. The power, the cooling, the grid — that part is local.
BRIGITTE: So the container takes fourteen days, and the ground takes…
JENSEN: The ground is a European project.
BRIGITTE: In Berlin you called AI a five-layer cake. Energy. Computers. The factory. Tokens. Applications.
JENSEN: Everyone loves the cake.
BRIGITTE: Europe is being sold the plate.
JENSEN: The plate is where the value sits.
BRIGITTE: And this sovereignty. Whose is it, exactly?
JENSEN: Yours. The tokens are born on European soil.
BRIGITTE: The factory?
JENSEN: Yours.
BRIGITTE: The design?
JENSEN: Ours.
BRIGITTE: The models?
JENSEN: The partners’.
BRIGITTE: Then what did Europe purchase?
JENSEN: Time. Your own briefing quotes me — an AI factory creates value when it starts producing tokens, not when construction is complete. Construction was never the value, Brigitte.
BRIGITTE: So we have bought the hole.
JENSEN: You have bought the promise of the hole. And the water savings are up to one hundred percent.
BRIGITTE: The factory doesn’t drink.
JENSEN: The factory eats. Containers ship early twenty-seven. Proud to serve Europe.
NARRATOR: Some assembly required. The assembly is the sovereignty.
The Facts Behind It
- GTC Berlin runs October 20–22 at STATION-Berlin; Jensen Huang’s keynote was delivered October 21 at the Tempodrom — a venue founded in 1980 as a tent near the Berlin Wall (NVIDIA blog).
- At the keynote NVIDIA introduced DSX POD: complete Vera Rubin AI factories built by partners inside modular containers, integrated and validated before delivery and arriving ready to connect at a prepared site — cutting onsite deployment from six months to as little as fourteen days, with worldwide delivery in early 2027 via an ecosystem including Bull, Dell Technologies, HPE, Lenovo, Schneider Electric and Vertiv (NVIDIA newsroom).
- Huang, in the announcement: “An AI factory creates value when it starts producing tokens — not when construction is complete.” On stage he told Europe “you don’t want to just be consuming the AI; you want to be producing the AI” and framed AI as a five-layer cake: energy, computers, the AI factory, tokens, applications (NVIDIA blog, NVIDIA newsroom).
- The keynote capped a weeklong European road through Paris, London, Stockholm and Dublin, on which NVIDIA committed nearly $10 billion to the region’s technology ecosystem and cited more than 12,000 partners (NVIDIA blog).
- The DSX AI Factory Platform claims to cut cooling-water consumption by up to 100% and deliver the same output with up to 30% less power (NVIDIA blog). The keynote lands as investors scrutinize AI infrastructure spending and Nvidia’s role in it (SCMP).
- Fiction framing: Brigitte, the procurement call, the cake bill and every line of dialogue are invented parody. The “EU commissioner” is fictional; no real official appears or speaks. Jensen is the established house satire persona. The products, numbers and quotes above are reported and sourced.
